電子產品不息更新換代，許多手機停產後，相幹的零件也不會繼續生產，致使很多使用良久的手機，零件破壞後，沒辦法再送原廠維修。蘋果官方近日更新「過時名單」，在名單中插手1款iPad及1款iPhone，過時名單所列的機型，官方將不再保證可以進行維修。
其中第4代iPad，是第1款利用Lightning接孔的iPad產品，現今不管是WiFi、機型皆被列入過時名單。

蘋果稍早在「過時名單」中插手1款iPad及1款iPhone，離別是2012年11月上市的「第4代iPad」，和2014 年上市的「iPhone 6 Plus」。
據蘋果官網資料，蘋果會在產品出售後最少5年，包管產品及零件可以進行維修，而停產跨越5年，未滿7年，就會被列入「過時名單」，此時官方就不保證必然能對產品進行維修，只能視零件供應情形而定，若是零件欠缺，民眾則需要另找渠道維修，無法經過官方管道送修。

而最新被入過時名單的iPhone，則是iPhone 6 Plus，它於2016年停產，iPhone 6 系列是第1款支援Apple Pay的蘋果手機。值得注意的是，同期上市的iPhone 6，因為在某些國家一向賣到2018年，所以沒有一並被列入過時名單。
